Software Test Engineer

Job Description

We are currently seeking to hire a Software Test Engineer to collaborate with our talented and energetic development group.  The Test Engineer will be responsible for architecting and implementing all aspects of the testing and quality assurance process for our leading edge software application – iTAM Link. This will include developing test strategies, automation and tracking results.  The successful candidate will bring prior SaaS experience to the role with a desire to focus on developing core testing competencies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design and implement an automated test system
  • Set up and maintain a code branch integration system and process
  • Analyze and plan release testing activities while considering priority, risk, and regression potential
  • Outline test suites and high-level test cases at both the functional and integration levels while taking scenarios into account
  • Plan, track, assess and report the maturity and stability of software releases
  • Review the implementation to ensure documented requirements and design goals have been met
  • Support continuous improvement of testing efforts while identifying, implementing and assessing the effectiveness of such improvements
  • Capture, document and communicate effective testing practices and strategies amongst fellow testers and developers
  • Work with customers and users to conduct field trials, acceptability tests and debugging
  • Identify root causes for software defects by debugging and reviewing source code

Required Skills & Experience

  • B.Sc. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • A strong and balanced mix of technical and business knowledge is required
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills are required
  • 5+ years of QA/Testing and software development experience working in teams
  • 3+ years of experience in a QA/Test Leadership role
  • 2+ years of experience using automated testing and test management tools
  • Ability to configure and use testing tools such as TestDirector, Quick Test Professional, WinRunner, Load Runner
  • 2+ years of experience conducting non-functional testing such as security, stress and performance testing
  • Team player with a track record for meeting strict deadlines
  • Familiarity with open source tools such as Selenium, Test4Gen, Grinder and other systems/formats such as SQL, File-Aid and XML would be ideal
